The amino acid that heals

Best Blogger Tips
http://www.tradebit.com/usr/stock-photos/pub/9002/1216330.jpg
When patient is rushed to the hospital after an overdose of acetaminophen, the antidote is N-acetylcysteine. this uncommon amino acid has also been widely used in Europe to treat bronchitis and is credited with reducing both symptoms and progression of the condition.

Nac is an antioxidant and precursor to the most abundant mini-protein antioxidant found in cells; glutathione, a protein critical to immune cell function. HIV patients, who typically display low glutathione concentration in cells, wer given 8 grams per day, up to 32 weeks. Subjects responded with elevated blood and immune cell, or T cell, levels and glutathione concentrations compared to patients receiving placebo.

An equally intriguing result was found when 37 smokers with impaired blood flow to their extremities were given NAC doses of 600 mg per day for two weeks. When retested, blood flow in j=subjects fingers was significantly improved, indicating NAC may help protect the lungs and blood vessels from damage wrought by smoking. Additional studies are needed to confirm the long-term effects of NAC, and its safety in asthmatics.

Tricks to beat cystitis

Best Blogger Tips

Eighty per cent of women suffer at least one attack of cystitis, and many have repeated attacks. But there are some simple measures that can help you....

  • Drink plenty of fluid every day. Cystitis is caused by bacterial in the bladder, and fluid helps flush them out. preventing them from sticking to the walls of the bladder.
  • Always wipe from front to back after using the toilet. One of the most common bacterial causes of cystitis is E coli., which is present in feces. Practice especially proper hygiene after moving your bowels.
  • Wash before and after sex. Intercourse tend to push bacteria up the urethra making it easy for them to invade the bladder.
  • Don't put off going to the loo. The urine stays in the bladder, the easier it is for bacteria to multiply.
  • Using a diaphragm makes you more prone to cystitis because it pushes up the urethra, making it hard to empty the bladder totally.
  • Avoid bubble baths, vaginal deodorants and perfumed soaps which can irritate the skin, helping harbour harmful bacteria.

Caring for your prostate

Best Blogger Tips

resources

Most men experience a prostate disorder-chronic prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer at some point in their lives. Alternative treatments and lifestyle strategies play a key role in prostate health for men young and old.

Exercise regulary. Vigorous exercise as well as gently forms, such as walking , yoga, and tai chi, all stimulate the prostate and help give it to the circulation and nourishment it needs. Other helpful habits include climbing stairs rather rather than taking elevators, and doing squats between long stretches of sitting.

Manage your stress level. Stress increases the production of prolactin, a hormone found to cause prostate inflammation in laboratory animals. If a connection is confirmed in humans, stress management will take on new importance for prostatitis sufferers.

Supplement your diet. Supplements knows to benefit prostate health include essential fatty acids, certain amino acids, the B vitamns, vitamns C and E, and especially zinc.

Have sex in moderation. Frequent ejaculations can actually weaken the gland and deplete its reserves of vital nutrients.

Eliminate offending foods. The most common offenders are high fat and high carbohydrates foods, citrus foods, spices, alcohol, and caffeine all of which irritate the genitourinary tract.

Douch me not

Best Blogger Tips
Most douching is useless and may, in fact, be harmful.
Douching should be discouraged among adolescent girls and young women because it has been shown to be associated with several serious health conditions (bacterial vaginosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy and infertility).
The vagina is self-cleaning, experts says, and douching is medically warranted in only a few, rare instances such as after radiation therapy or endometrial or cervical cancer episiotomy.

tell me who your friends are

Best Blogger Tips
http://images.buycostumes.com/mgen/merchandiser/36541.jpg
In high school, everyone eventually ends up with a group of friends who shares up with a group of friends who share similar interests. There's the brainy group that is always in the honor roll; the athletic group that is on every single varsity team; the party gals who always organize the party at school. Which group are you a part of? If you and your buds would rather talk about the newest book than the latest shade of eye shadow, then you can consider yourself more of a literary buff than a stylist. But if you can't help drifting off into your own private dream world whenever your friend starts to rave about the intricate plot points in the novel she's reading at the moment, sit up and take a notice.

Realizing that you have nothing in common with the people you spend time with says something about you and your preferences, as well. Knowing that you are with certain group for the sole purpose of lifting in, bending into the background, implies that being part of a crowd is important to you, and that you would rather go with the flow than rock the boat.

More about fiber

Best Blogger Tips
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/images/ency/fullsize/19691.jpg
Fiber is found in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and beans. It is not found in animals products. There are two major types of fiber: water insoluble and water soluble. Watre insoluble fiber promotes regularity, and is an important aid in normal bowel function. It may help reduce the risk colon cancer. Good sources include whole-wheat breads, bran cereals, most whole grains, fruits and vegetables eaten with the skin, and nuts.
Water soluble fiber promotes a full feeling, and helps control blood sugar levels by slowing down the rate food is absorbed from the digestive tract. There fibers show promise in the treatment of obesity and diabetes. Water soluble fiber has also been shown to help lower blood cholesterol levels. Good sources include oat bran, oatmeal, beans, peas, rice bran, citrus fruits, apple pulp, and strawberries.
Dietary fiber intake should be about 25-30 grams a day from food. Don't over do it though as too much fiber can affect absorption of some nutrients, including iron, calcium, and zinc. Fiber supplements should only be used under a doctor's guidance.
Increase the amount fiber in your diet gradually, over similar months. This lessens the likelihood of intestinal gas and digestive discomfort.
Unpeeled fruits contain more fiber than peeled. Whole fruits generally contain more fiber that fruit juices.
Eat brown rice more often. brown rice contains more fiber and nutrients than highly processed white rice and may lower blood cholesterol levels.

Gentle Defenses

Best Blogger Tips
http://images.craveonline.com/article_imgs/Image/herbs.jpg

Herbs may offer an alternative to harsh antibiotic. There's no doubt that antibiotics save lives. Since their introduction in the 1940s, these powerful medications have reduced the life-threatening danger of bacterial diseases such as meningitis ( inflammation of the brain and spinal cord lining), blood infection, flesh eating strep and even anthrax. But while they're universally praised, antibiotic have a potential downside. When taken preventively or over prescribed for viral infections, such as common cold, most type of sore throats and the flu, antibiotics can cause side effects and, worse, antibiotic resistance-a serious global health concern.

Look to herbs, which can be effective and gentle alternatives to antibiotics. Several herbs interfere with and kill bacteria but simultaneously boost immune system so it can fight infection naturally. Also, herbs don't cause resistance or significant side effects, making them the natural first line of defense against many less serious ailments.

Antibiotics do not selectively kill disease-causing bacteria, they kill a variety of bacteria- the good and bad one. Antibiotic resistance is a growing worry among health professionals. This effects stems from overusing and misusing antibiotics and results in stronger bacterial strains.

Herbs, meanwhile, are gaining acceptance among western health care providers even as scientist continue to discover exactly how botanical benefit the body.
I have already mention some benefits of herbs in my past article. Just take a look for some information.

Inferiority versus inferiority feelings

Best Blogger Tips
Because there is a universal need to be significant, important, loved, admired, accepted, approved...it follows that there is an enormous amount of felt inferiority floating around. A given person may not be inferior in any sense; friends and associates may vote him or her to be most admired and most successful person in his or her area.
But psychological test reveal that often very gifted people have inferiority feelings.
One may be greatly admired, yet feel inadequate and fearful in certain situations...

Most common Fears

Best Blogger Tips
  1. speaking before the group
  2. heights
  3. Insects and bugs
  4. financial problems
  5. deep water
  6. sickness
  7. death
  8. flying
  9. loneliness
  10. dogs
  11. driving/riding in a car
  12. darkness
  13. elevators
  14. escalators
Fears of speaking before a group stems from fear of ridicule, of failure, of being the focus of attention. It can also result from self consciousness.
Fear of heights has any of a number of sources; fear of falling morally; an actual deficiency in one's sense of balance; childhood panic carried over into adult life, and many others.
Extreme fear of water can originate in a near drowning episode, in a deep fear of emotions ( water symbolizes emotions), or from being encouraged to swim at too young an age.
Fear of elevators or other small enclosed spaces (claustrophobia) often originates in a specific episode ( such as being locked in a closet) Sometimes it can be displaced from some long gotten experience in childhood.
There is reason for everything, and one need not fee ashamed of some apparently irrational fear.

Don't expect instant change

Best Blogger Tips
Sometimes parents who learn more effective principles of child rearing and change their methods are perplexed when there is not an instant improvement in behavior. Perhaps a child has been belligerent or withdrawn , or has been lying or stealing. The fact that the parents have ceased their accusations, or have substituted praise for censure, is no guarantee that the child's personality is going to be altered immediately. Just as it traits, it will take time for him or her to relate to parents who have changed their approach.
When you know that your child failed a test, do not ask, "Did you pass your exams? Are you sure? Lying won't help. Some parents deliberately ask such questions to see if a child will tell the truth--to teach him honestly. Instead, state, Your school informed us that you failed the test. We are worried. We wonder how to be of help. "Convey to your children that there is no need to lie. You are prepared to listen to bitter as well as pleasant truths.

The infants gets unconditional love

Best Blogger Tips
http://www.psychologytoday.com/files/u45/babies.jpg
Where does our universal need for love and attention originate? It has its roots in infancy.

Generally speaking, infants are loved unconditionally. There is no need for them to do anything but be their parents beautiful little baby. They are held, cuddled, cooed at, loved, adored, and pampered.

Babies don't have to do anything to earn this love. It is their privilege to be loved and idolized to survey the world with wondering, appreciative gaze while held a loving embrace.

The Love principle

Best Blogger Tips
Most Christians are familiar with 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and 13. here is how it is paraphrases in the Living Bible:
heart-2.jpg heart image by ds_faceless

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love

Millions of devout people who believe earnestly in that lofty principle have found it difficulty to live up to it. The critical comment, the carping attitude, the unloving response slip out before they can be checked.
I don't think s much of the conversion experience that doesn't convert the tongue. A screaming wife/mother and a shouting, angry husband/father are wretchedly poor examples of basic Christianity. Children who learn about love and tolerance on Sunday but live with the opposite six days a week are going to be influenced most by what they experience at home. What children are told doesn't have as much effect as what they observe.

Accept Life

Best Blogger Tips
http://www.hazred.org.uk/images/logo_life_high_resolution_2.jpg
Life isn't easy, as has been pointed out. No matter ever said that it was going to be easy. But it is preferable to the alternative.

Acceptance does not imply approval. We don't have to like the difficulties we encounter, but we do have to accept them as given.
There are three important steps in resolving any problem: awareness, acceptance and action. We must become aware of the problem it can be resolved. This may mean getting in touch with deeper emotions rather than denying them. Never lie to yourself about your feelings. Denial solves nothing, and it can be very destructive.

Then, we must accept the situation. This need not involve liking it. I hate some aspects of life: murder, death, violence, poverty, hunger, injustice, war and a lot of other things. But I accept them as a reality. I dislike certain aspects of my personality, but I have to acknowledge that I possess those traits.

Third, we must decide what action to take. This may involve analyzing the problem, learning discipline, laying long range plan, or seeking counsel.

Intellect and emotions

Best Blogger Tips
http://www.ab-controls.co.uk/images/intellect.jpg
We humans operate far more on the emotional level than on the intellectual. The intellect explain what the emotions decide, for the intellect is but a speck in an ocean of emotion.

Because we are motivated more by our feelings than by facts, you will have better relationships if you make people feel good about themselves. Let's consider more common mistakes people make that cause others to feel badly about themselves.

Criticism is very destructive. In fact, almost all criticism , no matter how carefully expressed, is perceived by the recipient as an attack. We may intend to be constructive, and even label it as that, but it nearly always feels destructive to the one being criticized.

Children desperately need to be complimented, but adults need it, too. (feels it :p) One of the deepest human needs is to feel important. People thrive better on compliments than criticism.

One should never, never criticize another person in public, or even offer a mildly disparaging remark. If you want to be genuinely loathed, practice the murderous art of demanding people in public. If someone needs to be corrected, always do it in private.

Korean had fascinated the hearts and minds of every Filipino:
  • We Filipinos are eager to know the different culture that the Koreans have. We intend to compare it into our own culture.

happy Retirement

Best Blogger Tips

Retirement can be the most enjoyable time of your life. Now you're forever through with struggle of the daily grind, the dog-eat-dog cut throat competition, the pressure of beating the inevitable deadlines. Yes, you can now say goodbye to life's maddening rat race.
Instead of hurriedly gulping down your coffee and bread and running at breakneck speed to catch the bus to your work, now yo can eat your breakfast leisurely, slowly masticating and remasticating your food before swallowing it. You can even dine while glancing at the newspaper or listening to the morning newscast. Remember how you used to bump your wife and kiss the door goodbye? Now that you're retired, the almighty clock doesn't rule your life anymore.
You needn't always have to dress formally now and strangle your esophagus with an elongated piece of cloth. You may n ow put on your most comfortable casual wear as you engage in whatever activity appeals most to you. Now you may go window shopping once in a while or engage in your favorite hobby. You may spend the long, lazy, rainy afternoons looking through you volumes of albums, reminiscing on the many sweet and bitter memories of bygone days.
And how about finances? Well, if you've worked hard during your active years, the struggle for existence is happily behind you now. Your well deserved pension can take care of your simple needs.
Your children have flown away from your paternal nest long ago and have establish their own homes and careers in various places. You may visit them now as a welcome babysitter. You children will enjoy your bedtime stories and lullabies immensely.
Things you've long wanted to do- but never had the time to do them while you were still gainfully employed- you can do most, if not all, of them now. The book you've been dreaming of writing. Traveling to parts unknown to satisfy your wanderlust. Launching a new business. Learning to play that musical instrument. Doing more for your church. You can now do all these-and more-if you so desire.
Retirement is a period of the radiant afterglow. It is the most joyful time in your career, the climax before the resolution of the grand finale of line comes.

HAPPY RETIREMENT!!!

WHY WE ARE POOR

Best Blogger Tips

Every day we hear people cry out desperately: I steal because I have nothing to eat. I kill because I am threatened. I give up because there is no hope. I have stopped loving because there is no one to love. I cannot endure because there is much pain. I have stopped praying because there is no God.

We are all part of that vicious cycle we call poverty, that cycle we claim we cannot break. We say that to conquer poverty we have to give people more jobs, improve the delivery of social services, rid society of its biases against the less fortunate. We say that to encourage honesty in public servants, their wages should be raised. The hunger of the spirit cannot be fed by bread alone.

Being poor in body is not an excuse for us to be poor in spirit. Hunger is not a license for us to become less vigilant and less faithful to HIM. Hunger should never be a reason for us to kill, to hate, to stop believing.
We have never seen so much progress before yet people cry out because of war, of tragedy, of injustice. We have so many sophisticated weapon yet people die of hunger and of cruelty. We have the latest medicines available, yet aids continue to terrorize us. We have computers yet errors continue to be committed. We have the best recreational facilities, yet our children turn to drugs. We have vast resources, yet we remain poor. It will take more than all the help other countries are willing to extend to our economy, and more than all the human kindness and strength we can muster, to conquer our burdens.
We seem to have gotten nowhere. Teachers do not teach if they don't get paid on time; nurses leave for foreign countries to earn more money; doctors choose their patients because of money; soldiers rebel against their own flag because of money; children do not study if they are not promised money; parents offer bribes to make sure their children recieve awards; public officials squander money, forgetting they are elected; people kill because of money, and people get killed, because no one helps. The importance people put money has skyrocketed and made us forget the nobility and essence of public services, or brotherhood, of faith, of the existence of God Himself. We forget this is temporary world.

That is why we are poor, and cannot escape the vicious cycle.
